Now in its fifth year, the Youth Ambassadors™ remains one of Leading Link's most successful projects.

 

The Youth Ambassadors™ were originally set up for a week in 2007 as part of the Youth Ministry Team's (YMT) visit to all the schools in the Northumberland Catholic Partnership. The highlight of their visit was the family nights where we experienced parishioners, families and schools all celebrating together. Since then, the group has grown and they have worked tirelessly in a bid to keep alive the YMT's theme of 'Live Life to the Full'.

 

Whilst under the umbrella of Extended Services, the Ambassadors worked alongside young children from the first schools, supported peers in the middle schools and planned events for the high school. They also helped, and continue to help, with family learning programmes and have been integral to their success, helping with the sport, film, drama, cooking and various other specialities.

One Youth Ambassador™ said: “I would not be where I am if today it weren’t for the Ambassadors. You completely turned my life around” The Youth Ambassador™ brand is beginning to grow and become recognised nationally, with an OFSTED report in early 2010 rating our community cohesion and youth led activities as OUTSTANDING. As a result of this, Leading Link has taken the decision to roll out the Youth Ambassador programme to other schools.

 

We have produced a simple three-tiered access policy (see left) to cater for the needs of each individual school or college. This includes:

 

i) Bronze whereby they receive a licence to use the logo, and can purchase promotional materials such as t-shirts, certificates, hats, pens etc.

 

ii) Silver whereby the Leading Link team and our Senior Ambassadors will help to recruit and select potential students over a 3-day period.

 

iii) Gold whereby you will receive all of above and the delivery of the training to include health and safety, equal opportunities, leadership qualities, facilitating

workshops through a 0/ week programme and a further 3 days on specialisation such as filming, drama, food, sport etc.
